No matter how you define your relationship with running, on some level it’ll always be about commitment. Commitment to following a training plan for a race is a pretty obvious example, but committing to lacing up and getting out every day to find some headspace, or committing to running with a friend who needs physical or emotional support are two equally important examples of dedication to the sport. You can probably think of myriad others.

In issue 37 of Like the Wind, editor Simon Freeman visits Kenya, where he discovers the astounding levels of commitment the members of the elite NN Running Team put into their track and road sessions – and also the devotion to the sport displayed by everyday runners on the streets of Iten, grabbing every chance they can to train, despite often not having access to decent track facilities… or even shoes that fit.

Simon also sat down for a chat with author and Olympian Alexi Pappas, whose commitment to sporting excellence is matched by her dedication to looking after her own mental health and that of others. She’s just adapted her book Bravey for younger readers, providing a platform to help young people to define what it means to be their own kind of “bravey”.

Elsewhere in the pages of issue 37, we revisit the landmark 2008 Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc, when the then-unknown Kilian Jornet was so committed to running the race in his own way that he sent shockwaves through both the UTMB authorities and the wider ultra trail running community. We hear from influencer Flora Beverley, who is committed to raising awareness of environmental issues in her running blogs – she explains how running is never not political. Euan Crumley profiles Jakob Ingebritsen, the Norwegian track legend committed to being the best in the world. US writer Abigail Calandra explains how her commitment to training for a marathon in Prague opened her eyes to the beauty of a city in which she originally found it hard to settle. British runner Kirsty Reade shares the story of how her commitment to finishing a 300km non-stop race helped her to order her thoughts following the death of her mother.

Our commitment to running is shaped to a certain extent by our fitness, which naturally changes as we get older. Three older runners discuss how relationships with the sport develop and evolve with age, as well as examining the influence of Jeff Galloway on the global running community.

Of course, even with the common factor of commitment, everyone defines their relationship with running in way that’s unique to them. Mario Fraioli, host of smash hit running podcast The Morning Shakeout, mulls over how we describe ourselves in terms of the kind of running we enjoy.

Delivery & Returns

We send orders under 2kg via a tracked delivery service with Royal Mail. Shipping to UK mainland addresses is free when you spend £30.00. For orders under £30.00, tracked delivery to UK mainland is £4.00.

Shipping to Europe starts from £8.00, to the USA, Australia and all other worldwide territories shipping starts from £12.00, depending the size and weight of the package.

Orders over 2kg are sent by courier.

Where possible our packaging is made from 100% recycled plastic or paper. In some cases our packaging is not only recyclable it is reusable.

Import duty

Overseas shipments may be subject to import duties and tax. Additional charges must be at the customer’s expense. PRINT CULTURE has no control over these charges and accepts no responsibility for any additional overseas costs.

Brexit and European Shipping

The UK has now left the EU. The implication is that European customers may be charged import duty. This amount will vary depending on the value and the nature of the goods. The recipient of the goods is responsible for the payment of these charges.

Important: If you refuse the parcel to avoid paying import Duty and the parcel gets returned to us, we will refund you the cost of the item (if it’s returned in sellable condition) only, not the cost of shipping. Returned parcels will not be resent.

Returns & Refunds

If for any reason you are not happy with your purchase, it has been lost or damaged in the post, or you made a mistake when placing your order please contact us at as soon as possible.

We aim to resolve and/or provide a refund by the original method of payment within 10 working days. Once processed, debit card/credit card refunds can take up to 5 working days to appear in your account.

If required, we'll provide details of where and what information is required to return your order to us. 

You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable.

To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging.

All we ask is that you do this within 30 days of receiving your order.
